The goal of Helse Vest's research funding is to contribute to ensuring research activity among health providers, and to increase the productivity, the quality and impact for the health services. The research funds should serve as an incentive and an economic contribution to ensure research, and the development of research competance in health trusts.
Application deadline: 15 September 2025 at 16:00 / 4:00 pm.
The following application categories are open for this call:
- PhD fellowships
- Postdoctoral fellowships, including extension of postdoctoral fellowships for research stays abroad
- Clinical research fellowships
- Clinical career fellowships
- Grants for clinical studies (20 per cent)
- Open project support
- Fellowships for Research stays abroad
Applications are assessed based on scientific quality and impact. In addition, there are requirements for mandatory elements in the application. Please consult the guidelines for each application category for more information regarding this. To prevent the application from being set aside, we encourage everyone to carefully read the the call for proposals and guidelines, as well as the common reasons for not being shortlisted.
Granting of the research funds will be decided at the Liaison Committee's (Samarbeidsorganet) meeting on the 26th of November 2025. The results will be announced on the Liaison Committee's website as soon as possible after the meeting.

The Joint Research Committee (FFU) is a collaboration between St. Olavs Hospital HF and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU, which manages research funds from Helse Midt-Norge RHF. The main goal of FFU is to strengthen research activity, quality, and collaboration between the two institutions and promote a culture of research at the integrated university hospital.
FFU calls for proposals within the following application categories:
- Two-year research projects (up to 1.500.000 kroner)
- Researcher position 50% (up to 3 years)

Who can apply?
Applications can be submitted by permanent employees at St. Olavs Hospital HF in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU, or by permanent employees at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU in collaboration with St. Olavs Hospital HF. Temporary employees can apply for a 50% research position but must have a guarantee of funding from the institute/clinic for the entire application period. Employees at NTNU Ålesund and NTNU Gjøvik are not entitled to apply.
